ETHER

SAVE THE UNIVERSE, GET RICH, OR DIE TRYING!

ETHER is an EGA sci-fi action/adventure run'n'gun platformer with AdLib sound effects and music. Playing as a female combat cyborg mercenary you land on an alien world where a human colony has seemingly been overrun by hostile alien creatures. It is up to you to eradicate the alien menace and save the survivors, using your trusty gunarm and cyborg abilities. Heavily influenced by early 90's EGA graphics such as those seen in classic Apogee titles like Duke Nukem and Commander Keen, as well as gameplay from classics such as  BlackThorne, B.O.B. and Metroid, Ether will be a total throwback DOS-inspired action-packed sci-fi adventure!

Planned Features

  • EARN YOUR UPGRADES - In true mercenary fashion, you earn creds by killing hostile creatures and gathering credsticks in the levels. You can then spend your hard-earned creds on supplies as well as upgrades for your system. Whether you want more health, more leg strength or more armor, you can upgrade it. Don't think this will make the game too easy though as these upgrades will be required to face some of the later levels!
  • ARMED AND DANGEROUS - Get up to 5 additional gun modifications that add additional firepower to your arsenal!
  • EGA GRAPHICS - ETHER pays homage to late 80's and early 90's PC DOS gaming with crisp 320x200 EGA 16-color graphics. With paralax scrolling and animated scenery, be ready to feel immersed in a living breathing planet that wants you dead!
  • ADLIB SOUND - A DOS tribute would not be complete without the iconic OPL sound chip represented. The entire soundtrack and game sound FX have all been made using the JuceOPLVSTi softsynth for accurate AdLib/SoundBlaster sound. Music composed by ZONE TRIPPER.
  • FULLY EXPLORABLE - A fast travel system keeps the entire world explorable at any time. In fact, some upgrades you find later on might help you fully explore earlier levels.
  • SECRETS GALORE - Can you find them all? Lots of credsticks, ammo and gun upgrades are hidden in secret areas, rewarding those who are persistent in exploration!
